The seminar conveys the current state of the art of numerical detection and control of uncertainties in vehicle development. Aspects of sensitivity and robustness analysis are dealt with as well as questions of reliability, resilience, redundancy, model uncertainty and numerical methods for optimization under consideration of these uncertainties. Thanks to the methods of model reduction the numerical effort can also be realized in an industrial context.
The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has announced the induction of Saeed D. Barbat, Ph.D., Executive Technical Leader for Safety, Policy, and Vehicle Analytical Tools at Ford Motor Company to its College of Fellows for outstanding contributions to advancing vehicle safety and pioneering contributions to the automotive industry and societal benefits.

Using a virtual human model of a child, Maximilian Schinagl simulated the consequences of a blunt impact to the abdomen from different angles as part of his master's thesis. The result: the design of the grips makes a big difference.

Mobility technology company AVL is partnering with Red Bull Advanced Technologies to develop the next generation of ultra-high-power density fuel cell technology. The collaboration between ESI Group and FAW-VW TE aims to address the challenges posed by China's automotive safety regulations and drive industry innovation. Through this partnership, the two entities will aim to drive innovation and efficiency in intelligent simulation, and work towards establishing a localized automotive industry material database, thereby enhancing cooperation in advancing intelligent simulation technology across the industry. When self-driving cars hit the roads, they will need real-time information about other road users - ideally by exchanging sensor data with each other and with the infrastructure. A research project by VIRTUAL VEHICLE Research GmbH in Graz has developed the vehicleCAPTAIN toolbox for this purpose. The compact, modular and flexible platform significantly reduces the initial development effort. The research team led by DI Christoph Pilz has now been awarded the Styria 2024 Innovation Prize in the "Digitalization / R&D Institutions" category.
