The basic processes that guarantee a traceable data flow and at the same time ensure the requirements for the protection of confidential data, thus enabling acceptance of the simulation results for certification, homologation or NCAP assessment are discussed. The validation of models and simulation tools for virtual assessments will also be discussed. Virtual test methods are already available for ATDs and have proven their worth. Vehicle type approval based on virtual test procedures has been possible for some time for a limited number of specific regulations in automotive safety. However, there have been very few real applications so far. Currently the increasing demands of consumer protection organizations are leading to a noticeable acceleration in the development and acceptance of procedures for virtual testing as an alternative or supplement to physical testing. There are also corresponding efforts by legislators to implement virtual test procedures in new regulations for the assessment of vehicle safety. The trainer Andre Eggers has been a research associate at the German Federal Highway Research Institute since 2006 and works in the fields of biomechanics, evaluation of dummies, human models and virtual testing.

The ASAM ODS Crosstest 2024 confirmed the high quality of the ASAM ODS Standard and its implementations. At the event in Aachen, 23 participants from 9 companies and 4 countries tested the conformity of client applications and servers in real-world scenarios. Through on-site collaboration, valuable insights were gained for the further development of the Standard.

Hexagon announced the acquisition of 3D Systems Geomagic suite of interoperable software packages, which are used to create high quality 3D models from multiple sources, including laser scanning. The Geomagic suite, which includes products such as Design X, Control X, Freeform and Wrap, is capable of automating the processing of 3D scan data to build digital models from physical objects, which can then be used to generate history based parametric CAD models for use in product manufacturing.
