The upcoming Mobility Innovation Destination Torslanda is a tailored test bed of automotive development near the heart of Volvo Cars operations in Gothenburg, Sweden. This initiative continues the electrification journey and advancement of the next generation of premium electric cars.
Mercedes-Benz has become the world's first automobile manufacturer to receive permits for special exterior marker lights for automated driving in the states of California and Nevada. The California exemption permit for testing vehicles in California is initially limited to two years. The Nevada permit applies to Mercedes-Benz Model Year 2026 production vehicles and will remain valid until a statutory modification is achieved with the state legislature.
The goal was clearly defined: to increase road safety and efficiency. FORVIA has received 4 accolades at the CES 2024 Innovation Awards in the category "Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility". Hosted by the Consumer Technology Association, the "CES Innovation Awards" is an annual competition that recognizes outstanding design and technology in 28 product categories. Testing of a new automated shuttle is underway at the University of Michigan's Mcity Test Facility to ensure the technology is ready to safely serve older adults and people with disabilities in the city of Detroit. In November 2023 U-M researchers kicked off several months of testing with an automated vehicle provided by May Mobility, a leader in the development and deployment of AV technology.
Spirent Communications, expert for communications testing and assurance technology, and IPG Automotive, specialist for simulation solutions, collaborate in the field of C-V2X solutions. The companies integrated an interface between the C-V2X testing solution from Spirent and the open integration and test platform CarMaker from IPG Automotive.
Ansys collaborated with Sony Semiconductor Solutions to enhance high-fidelity image sensor simulation and camera-based features in next-generation automotive applications, including AV and ADAS. Ansys Speos can now seamlessly integrate with Sony's sensor models to streamline development and validation with more precise modeling.
In the early 1990s, Tom Dingus had an idea that bridged the gap between research and real-world driving. At the time, most transportation safety research was conducted in a simulator, a significantly controlled test track environment, or through analysis of crash databases. Dingus strived to step outside of the controlled environment box and into a natural transportation environment - the open road.
The history of AZT's management shows that innovative thinking and continuity are not a contradiction in terms. In the 52 years of the company's existence, Dr. Christoph Lauterwasser was only the third Managing Director of the AZT after AZT founder Prof. Dr. Max Danner (Managing Director AZT from 1971 to 1992) and his successor Prof. Dr. Dieter Anselm (Managing Director AZT from 1993 to 2007) and has very successfully managed the Allianz research centre since 2007.
