Thatcham Research welcomes the 
Subaru Corporation announced that the Crosstrek and Impreza (Japanese specifications) won the Best Award 2023 in Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and the National Agency for Automotive Safety and Victim's Aid (NASVA).
High-quality research facilities are essential to enhance the safety, security, efficiency, and environmental performance of vehicles in Canada. Transport Canada's Motor Vehicle Test Centre plays an important role in protecting Canadians' safety in vehicles and on our roads. The Minister of Transport and Quebec Lieutenant, Pablo Rodriguez, announced that a new CAD 29 million laboratory is being built to expand the Motor Vehicle Test Centre s capacity. 
In 2023, 1,766 people died on UK roads and many more received serious, life-changing injuries that may have been prevented by wearing a seat belt. New research from the charity Brake and AXA UK reveals that while 96 % of drivers surveyed said they always wear a seat belt, in practice this may not always be the case.
Cars are increasingly capable of taking over driving tasks from us. An important step towards the self-driving car is the introduction of Automated Lane Keeping Systems (ALKS), marking the first time the driver is not fully responsible for the driving task. TNO offers the industry and policymakers a proven, scenario-based methodology called StreetWise to develop and validate these automated systems safely.
Humanetics celebrates its 30th anniversary of operations in Erie County, Ohio, and its 15th year in Huron, Ohio. Humanetics' origins trace back to the 1950s, when Samuel Alderson created the first crash test dummy. Since then, the company has developed over 40 types of ATDs, ranging from newborns to large adults, including an entire suite of child and female devices. Crash test dummies were first produced in 1991 in Milan, Ohio.
Continental announced that it has implemented a cross-domain High-Performance Computer (HPC) in a car. For the first time, hosting cockpit and additional vehicle functions like driving safety and automated parking, including holistic motion control in a real-life vehicle application was made possible.
DEKRA has opened a Wi-Fi Alliance Authorized Test Laboratory (ATL) in Stuttgart, Germany, the first lab established in this key automotive industry area. The strategic location, close to multiple automotive manufacturers and suppliers, aims to support customers in having authorized Wi-Fi CERTIFIED testing performed for their products, ensuring their high-quality, interoperability, security, and industry-agreed standards compliance.
Elektrobit announced EB corbos Linux for Safety Applications, the world's first open-source operating system (OS) solution assessed to be compliant with automotive functional safety standards. The groundbreaking solution has received a positive technical assessment by TÜV Nord for the safety element out of context (SEooC) based on the two safety standards ISO 26262 ASIL B and IEC 61508 SIL 2.
Applus+ IDIADA, as part of the Spanish Delegation, has participated in the recent 90th session of the Working Group on Lighting and Light Signalling (GRE), held in the United Nations (UN) office in Geneva from April 29th to May 3rd 2024. The session focused on the adoption of the series 07 of amendments for UN Regulation No. 10 related to EMC.
