 IIHS unveils 2025 Award WinnersThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is requiring better protection for second-row occupants for the 2025 TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards, encouraging automakers to make advanced seat belt technology and other safety innovations the norm in the back seat. As a result, only 48 models qualify for 2025 awards so far, compared with 71 last year at this time. Of this year s winners, 36 earn TOP SAFETY PICK+ and 12 earn TOP SAFETY PICK.

As part of continuous further development, measX released version 8.6 of the software for evaluating tests for the certification of crash test dummies X-Crash ATD. The focus of the version is a new evaluation of the advanced Pedestrian Legform Impactor (aPLI).
Ansys announced AVxcelerate Sensors is accessible through Cognata's Automated Driving Perception Hub. The ADPH platform runs on Microsoft Azure and 4th Generation AMD EPYC processors and Radeon PRO GPUs. ADPH gives OEMs easy access to certified, web-based sensor models from manufacturers, enabling collaborative testing and validation of ADAS and AV functions using a high-fidelity simulation platform with virtual twin technology.

Over the past five years, there has been a dramatic increase in the implementation of ADAS. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, more than 90 % of the passenger vehicle fleet produced for the North America market now feature ADAS technologies, including forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and more.
According to AAA's latest survey on autonomous vehicles, 13 % of U.S. drivers would trust riding in self-driving vehicles - an increase from last year, when this number was 9 %. Despite this slight increase, 6 in 10 U.S. drivers still report being afraid to ride in a self-driving vehicle. For drivers, enhancing vehicle safety systems remains a priority over the development of self-driving, with interest among drivers decreasing from 18 % in 2022 to 13 % this year.
Ten prominent European organisations in vehicle safety, consumer protection, and road safety have raised significant concerns about potential risks to vehicle safety standards in Europe. The warning, published in the Financial Times, comes as the EU and US negotiate future trade relations, prioritising a deal on the car sector.
Funded by the European Union under the Horizon Program, with a total budget of 5 Million EUR, involving a Consortium of 13 partners led by Mosaic Factor, TWIN-LOOP builds on a new opportunity on computational capacity of clouds and vehicles due to the implementation of High-Performance Computing combined with digitization of Electric Vehicles (EVs) under the SDV architecture.
